style inspiration; camo jacket

left URBAN OUTFITTERS; right TOPSHOP both £48.

Nineties nostalgia is big this summer! Although some trends are better left in the past (scrunchies, inflatable backpacks, need I go on?!ha), some looks from the 90's, 'the decade that style forgot', are somehow making their way back in! Mood rings, dungarees, platform trainers, crop tops, the list of mini trends go on! Although these looks have been popping up for a few months now, the one that I strangely can't get enough of is camo print! I say strangely as even though these ladies are rocking it, I'm not too sure if it's really 'me'?

look one + two jessica v. VintageVirgin; look three + four heather c. effiesmakeupbox; look five + six penelope s. fashion-fade

From looking at how these jackets have been styled, I think its safe to say that they weirdly go with anything from floral prints to crisp white shirts. I think they best suit the grungy style with rolled up sleeves, stacks of accessories + work really well with nasty gal/runwaydreamz style cut off denim. I almost ordered the Urban Outfitter jacket on the weekend but as I was scrolling through eBay I found loads of the f2 style jacket for a fraction of the price! Highly recommend checking out eBay before investing! I can't wait for mine to arrive to start playing around with outfits! And if my initial fear that camo print really isn't for me comes true, then at least I've only wasted £9.99!

MET BALL 2012: THE DRESSES

Not my usual type of post today! During my morning scroll on twitter I couldn't help but notice the pictures of gorgeous women and dresses from last night's Met Ball + felt the need to share my favourites. Maybe it's because my university summer ball is next week + I would KILL for a dress like these but I am totally swept up in all the glamour! Flicking though the images I noticed a few trends so split my faves into categories..

METALLIC

How amazing are these dresses and how gorgeous do they all look wearing them! Cameron was my winner of this category but the more I look at Camilla's outfit the more I fall in love! It's accessorised perfectly with a retro sleek up do and that dark plum lip, GORGEOUS!!

 GOTHIC

Something a little different worn by all three of these celebrities. Beyonce's gown is just over the top amazing! I think MK looks a little like a crazy scientist but weirdly I still kind of like it?ha.. Lana just oozes a sexy vampire vibe with her porcelain skin, cape and again that Gothic lip.

OLD ROMANTIC

Lots and lots of tulle! (I love Sarah Burton in the background of Florence's photograph having a sneaky look at her creation!ha..) All are beautiful modern takes on the old classics. It's clear from these images that not so perfect up-do's are one to watch! Have you guys seen the pictures from last nights gala? Who wins your vote for best dressed?

STYLE INSPIRATION: LANA DEL REY

Like so many at the moment I am fully on board the Lana Del Rey band wagon. She is my current girl crush! Her music is just so different to anything out at the moment + has re-ignited my love for female indie pop bands, girl powaaa! I've slowly been transitioning into a centre parting over the past couple of months but her gorgeous locks are making me re-think this move altogether! Her hair is just perfect; I want her side parting + bouncy curls! I'm also really envious of her style, it's effortlessly glamorous with that little hit of vintage grunge which I just love! I'm going to add a little Lana to my wardrobe via feminine pastel shades, 3D floral detailing, short gold necklaces, statement rings + retro 50's styling! Hurry up pay day!

Inside your heart is cold...

Sorry for things being a little quiet on the blog front this week; can't believe it's Friday tomorrow already, this week has flown by! Because of work, uni' work and things I got going on the side, nothing exciting has really happened this week which makes blogging a little difficult, bad times. On the positive side my student loan has finally gone in! Being dirt poor for several weeks did teach me to manage my money better so haven't gone on any major splurges (yet!) in an attempt to never get in that situation again, it wasn't fun. I have decided to think more before I buy which is totally not my style, self confessed serial impulse buyer here! So top of my lusted after list is these shorts that I came across whilst tumblrin' the other day...

original source - Life By Matilda

White crochet shorts, could anything be more summery? After a little while searching I found that they are part of the H&M  'Conscious Collection'. Naturally they have disappeared off the site now that I wanted to share with you guys, but here is a pair that is being sold on eBay slightly above the £14.99 original price tag! I am now on a mission to find these/a similar pair to add to my wardrobe. Otherwise I may have to learn to crochet once I break up from uni'!aha. Is it just me or do you guys love these as much as me?...

You're so hypnotising...

Welcome new followers!(: Love seeing some new faces on the blog! Posting early for me today as I've been at the doctors all morning and hoping to get some uni' work done before this evening, cos it's Fridayyyy(couldn't resist sorry!ha) So as promised here are my favourite 'Lita' looks at the moment, my life has literally been taken over by these shoes!

Wow wow wow! This is definitely the way to wear this footwear trend with laid back cool. All three styles look effortless and sexy, what every girl aims to dress like right! These looks show that the shoes can work with lots of different outfits and colour palettes. I need to stop looking at these shoe's now, I can feel an impulse buy coming on! I'm going to chain myself to my sewing machine so I stop drooling over them and do something productive, have a nice Friday guys!(:

Come on skinny love just last the year...

Just wanted to share my love for this photograph of Fearne Cotton showcasing her latest Very collection. I have serious hair envy with practically every style she tries! The blonder hair and 50's Mad Men-esque styled mid cut is a summery change! Just love the style and colours of this outfit, simple yet gorgeous!

You've got more than money and sense, my friend...

If you have a tumblr you're probably sick of the sight of light denim hot pants! They have been spamming my dashboard since us in the UK have had our first bit of sunshine for 2011! However frustrating this may be you cannot help but feel the need to own a pair! I'm particularly liking the frayed Topshop pair and the vintage style Newlook ones. I'm trying not to spend as much money on clothes at the moment but I will own a pair come summer. Some lucky ladies already have theirs and are showing us how to style this trend on lookbook. Here's a few of my favourites;

1, 2, 3

Last summer I had a go at making my own shorts from a pair of old jeans and was surprised at how easy it was! I have the week of university next week, I might have a go again seems I now have serious short envy! The photo sharing site weheartit is making this jealousy worse, it seems like every slim, blonde, tanned, teen owns a pair, bring on summer!

Boys will be boys...

The masculine trend has been a big one for the past couple of seasons and I'm really loving the different ways you can inject this feel into your own personal style. From coats to shirts to shoes; anything can have the borrowed from the boys look! Structured, clean cuts can add a masculine look with ease. This post I am going to focus on a certain item which seems to be a favourite, especially in the blogging community, the bow tie!

These girls pull off the masculine look with a sexy vibe. This is the way I'd like to try it as I don't think I have the look to pull off the quirky style that some people can. Street style isn't the only place I've taken inspiration from, celebrities also have their turn...

Rihanna was maybe the first celeb' that I've seen to work this look, and judging by the hair style it was maybe a year or two ago? The way that Fearne Cotton wears this trend may be my favourite; it just oozes cool and I like the way she uses jewellery to add a casual, indie element. I definitely will be trying out this trend sometime this week, so keep an eye out for an ootd!

Open up my eager eyes...

To begin I would like to give a big thanks to the support I've received from my previous post, it really does mean a lot(: We're all doing well and trying our best to get back to our normal, well as normal as we can! It's been a long day for me, uni' from 10am until 5:30pm, this is the longest day I've had in a while! I got to start toiling though which helped a lot as our deadline is two weeks Friday! Tomorrow is my day off and I'm going to perk myself up by getting my hair done. I'm going for the usual highlights this time but determined to have something different done next; I'm thinking ombre (dip dyed)! My fav' celebrity rocking this style at the moment has got to be Fearne Cotton.

Images Google

Her hair is exactly what I want mine like. Not long but not short and a natural looking dipped effect. I'm going to show the photo's to my hairdresser tomorrow to see what she suggests. I hope she doesn't say just keep growing your roots (the current state of them isn't a good look)! I would like the same colouring as it matches Fearne's dark eyes well (I do wear more fake tan than her though in all fairness!). I'll probably need extensions to thicken up my natural hair; I usual clip in the strips but would like to try the individual bonds but not sure if they'll thin out my hair even more. Anyone tried them before?

We're dancing like we're dumb, our bodies going numb...

Last night I went to Tiger Tiger for the first time on a night out! It had a really good night and tried something new with my outfit as well. I did, as predicted, buy something new to wear but it was in the sale so I think I get an A for effort! My style inspiration for my Saturday night look was inspired by Gossip Girl character Jenny Humphrey (not to be confused with actress Taylor Momsen who plays the part, who's fashion choices leave little to the imagination!). I was watching Gossip Girl one evening last week and one 'Jenny Humphrey' look in particular caught my eye from the 'Hurt Locket' episode...

I love everything; the blonde up-do, the shimmery, smokey eyes and the way that the pink lips pop against the sheer, black of the dress. I didn't have time to take any proper photo's of my outfit but a few have appeared on Facebook so here is my interpretation...

(This is after we starting on the jugs of sex on the beach, hence the thumb orb in the top right corner!)

The dress was in the River Island sale and I got it for £15! It had a few buttons going down the front so I quickly unpicked them before leaving. I don't really do dangly earring's and these feathered ones are my only pair! I might do an outfit post in the week to show it off properly as I think it worked really well!  I have a serious crush on Jenny's style, going to watch some more Gossip Girl episodes to get more inspiration (any excuse aye!)...

P.S. I love the song which I've titled this post with, (Ke$ha - We R Who We R) serious party tune!
